My Place by the Sea Announces One-of-a-Kind Cookbook Where Food, Art, and Community Come Together
Rockport, MA - Beloved Rockport restaurant My Place by the Sea-owned by Kathy Milbury and Barbara Stavropoulos-is proud to announce an extraordinary new project: a one-of-a-kind cookbook that celebrates not only great food, but also the intertwined stories of community, creativity, and healing that define this iconic seaside destination.
Joining Kathy and Barbara in this endeavor are their longtime collaborator Nick Hafey and food and arts writer Amy Allen, bringing together a dynamic team to create a book unlike any other-where food meets history, art, sports, and celebrity culture, all rooted in the heart of Rockport.
This beautifully photographed collection showcases:
Signature recipes including My Place's famed Secret Herb Bread
Stunning artwork by renowned painter Judi Rotenberg
Heartwarming stories from decades of local and celebrity guests— among them Sam Smith, Ellen DeGeneres, Steven Spielberg, Kate Capshaw, and Kevin Bacon
A rich history of Rockport's journey-from the legalization of alcohol in 2005 to the vibrant arts scene that defines this coastal village
Personal reflections on family, sports, and resilience-including a nod to Kathy's brother, hockey legend Mike Milbury
Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Rockport's rocky coastline, My Place by the Sea has long been a haven for connection, healing, and inspiration. Over the past 30 years, the restaurant has been featured on Food for Thought with Billy Costa and Jenny Johnson, T.V. Diner, Phantom Gourmet, Chronicle, Cherry Bomb Podcast, and numerous local and national publications.
All proceeds from the cookbook will benefit Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and The Jimmy Fund, with a special focus on Diamond-Blackfan anemia research-continuing the restaurant's deep tradition of giving back. Book production costs have been fully funded through charitable contributions, ensuring that every dollar raised supports life-changing research.
